A silent world, a fearless America ???

A silent world, a fearless America… The Venezuelan crisis is a miscarriage of justice and the arbitrariness of a ‘superpower’.

The arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro demonstrates how superpowers disregard morality for their own interests. The US’s desire for dominance over Venezuela’s natural resources has exposed its bullying of weaker nations. The Venezuelan crisis represents a miscarriage of justice and the arbitrary actions of a “superpower.”

Plato famously said, “Morality is the weapon of the weak.” The US sent its army to Venezuela, arrested President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, and summoned them to New York. Those who want to see the intricacies of morality and immorality in this should keep watching. Powerful nations look after their own interests. They have no faith in morality or immorality. Not just the US, Russia and China do the same. For the past four years, Russian President Putin has been at war with Ukraine. All European countries and the US are opposing Putin, but Putin has opened a front. China threatens Taiwan daily, but no country is able to harm it. This is why Trump is feeling proud even after removing Maduro from his country.

The whole world is stunned

There’s no doubt that the manner in which Venezuelan President Nicolas was removed was unjustified. But whoever came forward, everyone remained silent. This is unprecedented. No matter how many flaws Maduro’s regime may have, including his involvement in drug and weapons smuggling to the United States, he is still the president of an independent country. Venezuela is also a member of the United Nations, so if the US president had a problem with him, he could take him to the world stage. Imposing self-inflicted punishment is a war crime. But, true to the saying “The powerful are not to blame,” the entire world watched in stunned amazement at America’s arrogance. Later, the heads of states from Russia, China, North Korea, and other countries strongly condemned President Donald Trump’s actions. But America suffered no harm!

Other countries salute the powerful countries

After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, there was no country left to challenge America, so America took on any nation that hindered its trade. The US treated the President of Iraq in the same way, Cuba, and Libya. But today, Russia and China together have become a power capable of challenging America. Therefore, America remains constantly fearful of them and tries to suppress any nation that moves closer to Russia and China. Following America’s example, these nations also interfere in weaker and opposing political positions. Russia started a war with Ukraine because it feared that Ukraine was siding with the American lobby. Ukrainian President Zelensky has also been expressing his desire to join NATO, an organization of countries bound by the US treaty.

It’s a different matter that it didn’t find a place in NATO, and NATO itself is now merely a facade. The US itself is no longer enthusiastic about NATO. Even NATO member countries are troubled by Donald Trump’s arbitrary decrees. However, by arresting Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, the US demonstrated its mastery of bullying. American soldiers entered Venezuela at night and abducted them from the president’s residence. They were brought to New York and placed in a detention center. They will now face trial on drug and arms trafficking charges. The question arises as to what authority the US administration will exercise in this case. Venezuela has the largest natural resources among Caribbean countries, and the US has its sights set on this.

Trump eyes Latin American countries

The geopolitical position of Latin American countries, located between North and South America, and their natural resources have always been a thorn in the eyes of the United States. It has been keen to keep these Caribbean countries under its control by any means necessary. Countries like Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, the Bahamas, Barbados, and Trinidad and Tobago are in no position to oppose the United States. In Guatemala, the US overthrew Jacobo Arbez in 1954. It invaded the Dominican Republic in 1965 to prevent a progressive, socialist government from coming to power. Having been assured of its position in Latin America and the Caribbean, it now sets its sights on South American countries. Venezuela became its first target. Maduro’s government in Venezuela, in fact, had socialist views.

Maduro could not save Venezuela.

Venezuela was once one of the world’s most prosperous countries due to its natural resources. However, the government there failed, and the treasury was lavished with generous donations. The free plundering of the treasury has left this prosperous Latin American country in a shambles. Maduro failed to revive it during his rule. Nevertheless, the people there had to take action against Maduro. A committee under UN supervision could have been formed to ensure fair elections, but America’s dominance is a matter of concern for everyone. Therefore, even countries in the US lobby have, albeit tacitly, opposed Trump’s move. Russia, China, and North Korea are already anti-American groups, but France has also condemned Maduro’s arrest. India has issued a diplomatic response to this matter.

India hopes to recover Rs 8,300 crore stuck in the loan

India’s oil company, ONGC, has a project in Venezuela. Venezuela owes it one billion dollars (Rs 8,300 crore), but Maduro has been delaying this payment. Now, if a new government is formed under American supervision in the future, India will have hope of recovering its stuck funds. The US currently controls almost all the world’s major petroleum-producing countries. Venezuela has the largest oil reserves in the world. Now, with Maduro’s arrest, any government formed in Venezuela will operate under American directives. This has both Russia and China worried. Russia because it is an oil exporter and, until now, the Venezuelan government has been favorable to it. Now, the situation will change. China because China also has a refinery in Venezuela. Their work will be stalled, which is why these countries are worried.

Escape from Venezuela

Venezuela, a tropical country in South America, covers approximately 925,000 square kilometers. Its primary language is Spanish. It is bordered by Guyana to the east, Colombia to the west, the Caribbean to the north, and Brazil to the south. It serves as a bridge between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. It gained independence from Spain in 1811, and subsequently discovered vast reserves of crude oil. It has maintained a friendship with India, but numerous freebies launched by the government have led to widespread unemployment and poverty. This has led to a massive exodus of Venezuelans to the United States. President Nicolas Maduro faces charges of narco-terrorism, drug trafficking, money laundering, corruption, electoral fraud, and human rights violations. A $15 million bounty has been placed on him since 2020.

Anger over Flores’ arrest

When US Enforcement Troopers arrested President Maduro and his wife, reactions were mixed on the streets of Caracas, the Venezuelan capital. Maduro supporters were angry and mournful, while his opponents chanted “Libertad, libertad!” and waved flags. Maduro’s wife, Cilia, held a high reputation in the country. Her TV program, “Con Cilia en Familia,” portrayed a homely warmth and motherhood, while critics saw her as a symbol of nepotism and corruption. European leaders have also expressed outrage over Cilia Flores’ arrest. Following France, the German Chancellor also condemned it as unjustified. Europeans also fear that Trump may also annex Canada and target Cuba in the future.

Control Canada with tariffs

Americans do not consider Maduro’s arrest unjustified. Even those who immigrated from Venezuela to the United States justify Trump’s move. Charan Singh, a New Jersey entrepreneur and popular among Indian expatriates, says that Maduro himself won the last election using unfair means. His election was illegal, which is why Maduro’s staunch opponent, Maria Corina Machado, received the 2025 Nobel Prize. He explained that those who say Canada will now face the same fate as Venezuela are mistaken. According to him, the political situation in Canada is not so chaotic. Canada is a democratic country. Donald Trump may threaten, but he will never be able to make Canada his 51st state because Canada is a Commonwealth country and its constitutional head is the King of England. Therefore, he will not do this to Canada; he will control it through tariffs.

Cuban crisis

According to Mahendra Singh, a professor of science at Pennsylvania State University, annexing Canada is simply impossible. Americans consider Canada a member of their own community and a younger brother. Furthermore, it is a white nation. Both nations share linguistic, cultural, and ethnic similarities. Furthermore, Canada may have a smaller population, but its area is larger than the United States. Therefore, the United States will not target Canada. Iran may be the next target for the United States. Mahendra Singh said that while left-wingers may antagonize the US action for political reasons, the truth is that the people of Venezuela are happy with this action. Nicolas Maduro ruined their country. The same situation exists in Cuba. According to him, education and healthcare are free under Cuba’s communist regime, but employment is absent. People are poor, which is why Cubans flee to the United States.

Will Trump target Iran?

According to Philadelphia IT professional Atul Arora, Trump is following his America First policy. He needed to control Venezuela. The way China was investing in Venezuela, there were fears that Maduro would one day hand over his country to China. In any case, whichever country China invests in or sets up a factory in, that country doesn’t benefit from it. It brings in everyone from officials to sanitation workers from its own country. In this way, China uses the country’s natural resources but doesn’t benefit from it. This is also why Venezuelans were against Maduro. According to him, Donald Trump, though not Canada, will now interfere in the Asian country Iran.
