US: America’s double standards on terrorism, supporting its “beloved” Pakistan again; anger among Indians
America’s duplicity regarding terrorism has once again been exposed. In fact, the language used in the social media posts following the explosion in India and the one in Pakistan is vastly different. While the US simply dismissed the explosion in India as an explosion, it directly labeled the Pakistani blast a terrorist incident and stated that the US stands with Pakistan. This double standard by the US is raising questions, and the Indian people are expressing their displeasure.
Actually, a dangerous explosion took place in India’s capital Delhi on Monday evening. In which 12 people died and many others were injured. On this explosion, the US Embassy in India posted on social media and wrote that ‘Our prayers are with those who lost their loved ones in last night’s explosion in New Delhi. We wish the injured a speedy recovery. Ambassador Sergio Gor.’ On the other hand, a bomb exploded in a court complex in Islamabad, Pakistan on Tuesday evening, in which many people were killed.
The Pakistan-based embassy shared a post on social media regarding the blast in Pakistan, writing, “The United States stands in solidarity with Pakistan in the fight against terrorism. Our condolences go out to the families of those who lost their lives in today’s attack. We wish the injured a speedy recovery. We condemn this attack and all forms of terrorism and are committed to supporting the Pakistani government’s efforts to ensure peace and stability in their country.”
. Indians have questioned US intentions for characterizing the attack in India as merely an explosion and explicitly linking the Islamabad blast to terrorism. One user, Shiva Mudgil, wrote, “First, the US Embassy took a full day to issue condolences for the Delhi blast, while the Pakistani Embassy immediately responded to the Islamabad blast. It seems the US views terrorism in India through a different lens.” Another user said that the choice of words and the delay in posting reflect America’s double standards regarding terrorism in India. It’s worth noting that Pakistan’s army chief has remained close to the US these days, and President Trump even described Asim Munir as his favorite Field Marshal. Meanwhile, the Trump administration has imposed heavy tariffs on India and is pressuring it not to buy cheap oil from Russia.
